DECATUR — It’s time for Barrels (and Boxes) of Love – Morgan County’s Industry-Led Non-Perishable Food Drive.
Donations benefit food pantries at the Salvation Army of Decatur and the Committee on Church Cooperation, as well as local backpack feeding programs for Decatur City and Morgan County schools.
It all kicks off on Valentine’s Day and Collection Day is Feb. 28 at the Beltline Church of Christ gymnasium, 2159 Beltline Road in Decatur.
Businesses can take part by hosting a Barrels of Love food drive. Boxes and promotional posters are available at United Way of Morgan County and the Committee on Church Cooperation (both on 1st Avenue). Businesses can also use their own boxes. However, no barrels will be distributed this year, but businesses can use barrels from previous years.
As an incentive, the company bringing in the most items will house the Golden Barrel for the upcoming year. (Silver and Bronze Barrels will be awarded, too.)
