HUNTSVILLE – It’ll be a net gain for breast cancer awareness next week as pickleball players take part in the inaugural Dink Pink Pickleball Day in Huntsville.
The city’s Parks & Recreation invites pickleball players to visit participating recreation centers next Wednesday in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
“Our new Dink Pink Pickleball Day is about more than just playing a game,” said Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett. “It’s about supporting a great cause and it’s an easy way for residents who are interested in our recreation centers to come out and get involved.”
The free open-play sessions welcome all skill levels and while healthy competition is welcome, players are encouraged to serve, rally and dink in honor of those affected by breast cancer.
Players and cheering sections are encouraged to wear pink and don a pink ribbon provided by the centers.
Pink-themed pickleball accessory giveaways will be provided by each center while supplies last.
