MADISON – The runoff election results are in: Erica White is the new District 6 representative on the Madison City Council, defeating Scott Harbour in Tuesday’s runoff election.
“I’m honored to be elected as the next Madison City Council District 6 representative,” White told 256 Today.
“I’ve gotten out there. I’ve knocked on every door in the district once or even twice. I am looking forward to working with both the new and existing council members,” she said. “I plan for my next term to look like my campaign, which means I’ll be out talking and I’ll be listening so that I can represent District 6.”
Unofficial results show White received 739 votes to Harbour’s 444, with a total of 1,183 ballots cast.
A former Army electrical engineer, White moved to North Alabama in 2010 after graduating from Tuskegee University. She spent 11 years in federal service before becoming an entrepreneur and full-time mom.
A Madison resident for 15 years and District 6 resident since 2016, White has also volunteered as a court-appointed juvenile advocate, hospice volunteer, adult education tutor, and church usher.
White and Harbour, both political newcomers, challenged incumbent Karen Denzine in the Aug. 26 municipal election. Denzine failed to advance to the runoff.
