Franchise makes old houses ‘New Again’

HUNTSVILLE – New Again Houses has opened its first Alabama franchise in the Rocket City with David Sanderson as its owner.

The franchise buys old houses in Madison, Limestone, and Lauderdale counties and transforms them into contemporary homes, reselling them traditionally as market listings.

With significant changes in houses in the 21st century, a 30- to 50-year-old home can be as antiquated as a Civil War-era home. The ability to wire an old house for internet connectivity and WiFi, its ability to be more energy efficient, or to automate lighting, HVAC, and security, is often cost prohibitive for the owner.

Sanderson said he has experience flipping houses to help families.

“The feeling of using my gifts to bring those homes back to life, seeing the finished product, and passing it over to grateful families, overwhelmed me with accomplishment,” he said. “As a new franchise owner, my goal is to bring old homes back to life that need the attention that others are unable to give for whatever reason.

“To see a project from beginning to end and know it was quality work is the best time I’ve ever had ‘working.’”

New Again Houses founder Matt Lavinder said the company’s success is measured by achieving the balance between financial success and quality of life.

“New Again Houses’ goal is to create opportunities, build relationships, and provide an ecosystem for our franchise owners, including resources that took us a decade to develop,” he said. “These resources help new franchise owners overcome many common startup obstacles that entrepreneurs face, so they are not having to build their business alone.”

The Huntsville location is the company’s 38th franchise in 19 states.
