Friends of the Bob Harrison Center launched

HUNTSVILLE – Friends of the Bob Harrison Center has been created to to support programming for the members of the Robert “Bob” Harrison Senior Wellness and Advocacy Center, Madison County District 6 Commissioner Violet Edwards announced.

“I am delighted that this group of community leaders are providing us with a path to better serve our members as well as allowing members to better serve each other,” said Edwards. “This partnership will bring instant benefits to the members and the community.”

heads the board. Other members are Erika Andrews of Redstone Federal Credit Union, civic leader Gladys Branch, Stacey Steele of NASA, and Jason Guyton of Avadian Credit Union. The group began working with center leadership last spring to identify projects that the community can assist with.

“I am excited to serve as the inaugural president of Friends of the Bob Harrison Center,” said Coleman. “We have a great group of individuals serving and working together to help support the mission of the center and to ensure that seniors and members of the community are able to live long and stay strong!”

An inaugural fundraiser for the 501c3 non-profit organization is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 7 at the center, at 6156 Pulaski Pike in Huntsville. The center has partnered with HeadshotsHsv for photos, with a portion of the proceeds going to the charity. Other fundraising events are planned, including the inaugural Friends of the Bob Harrison Center Golf Tournament and Music in the Meadow next spring.
