From West Point to West Huntsville, OSS provides multi-facet support to ASCTE

HUNTSVILLE – Offset Strategic Services, a research and development company that was named by the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber as the 2023 Veteran Owned Business of the Year, already invests in a renowned local high school by offering mentorships on a weekly basis.

TJ Wright, a graduate of the United States Military Academy and founder/president of Offset Strategic Solutions, brought more than advice to the campus of the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering last week.

He also brought a big check.

The donation will help fund the school’s robotics program, which provides students with the opportunity to design, build, and program robots for competition and real-world applications.

“This donation, substantial in relation to our size, underscores our commitment to supporting our community,’’ said Wright, whose company is a leading provider of strategic consulting and cybersecurity services. “At The OSS, we are dedicated to leading-edge innovation and exceptional service. Our core philosophy centers on ‘making a difference’ by delivering distinct advantages to our partners, employees, the warfighter, and the next generation of professionals who will do great things for our country.”

Matt Massey, president of ASCTE, said, “We are incredibly grateful to The OSS for their generous donation. This support will enable us to provide our students with the tools and resources they need to continue to excel in robotics and beyond.”

The donation is part of what the company says is an ongoing commitment to supporting STEM education and workforce development initiatives in Alabama.

According to a news release, the contribution reflects the company’s dedication to creating an “offset” — providing a strategic advantage to those who might not otherwise have one. By supporting ASCTE, the OSS is helping to level the playing field for students across Alabama particularly in the fields of technology and engineering.

“Our partnership with ASCTE is more than just a financial donation; it’s about providing a tangible advantage to these bright young minds,” Wright said. “By leveraging our expertise in Autonomy and our experience with NATO, PM UAS, USSOCOM, and PEO GVSC, we enhance what these students receive from ASCTE’s already incredible curriculum, facilities, staff, and resources.”

The OSS’s involvement extends to its MAD (Missiles, Machines, AI, and Drones) program, where the company’s experts offer weekly engineering mentorship to the ASCTE Robotics team. This initiative is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate and excel in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.

ASCTE is in the top 1% of high schools nationally.
