G’day! Australian firm to locate US headquarters in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE – From the land down under to the Rocket City.

Boresight, an Australian company that provides targets and services in the drone industry, is establishing its U.S. headquarters in Huntsville.

“After evaluating several locations across the United States over the past 18 months, Huntsville has been selected for its business environment, its aerospace and defense ecosystem, and its support for international companies,” the company said in a news release.

“I’d like to extend sincere thanks to the Huntsville community for their incredible support and assistance in helping Boresight reach this significant milestone,” said CEO Justin Olde. “Huntsville is Boresight’s first international location and will serve as the base of operations for all Boresight’s North American business into the future. The town is the perfect location for a fast-growing technology business.”

Boresight US is a wholly owned subsidiary of Canberra-based Boresight, a provider of aerial targets and services within the Counter-Small Uncrewed Aerial Systems (C-sUAS) domain. The company said it created the U.S. subsidiary to meet the growing demand for its technology and services. Boresight already counts the U.S. military and commercial C-sUAS companies among its customers.

“Boresight’s expertise in the drone market fits well in Huntsville’s space and defense high-tech economy,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “We’re pleased Boresight recognized the strengths of our workforce and we’re honored to have them as a valued community partner.”

Boresight will build a facility capable of manufacturing the various Boresight aerial target types. This will likely grow to include aerial target types designed and developed at the U.S. site specifically to meet North American requirements. This project will initially create 16 jobs with additional growth to be determined by customer demand.

“The chamber welcomes our third Australian company to Huntsville,” said Lucia Cape, Senior Vice President of Economic Development for the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber. “As a strategic partner in defense and space, Australia is not only a valued ally but also an economic engine.

“We appreciate Boresight’s investment in our community and look forward to supporting their success.”
