Gener8tor welcomes 10 companies to spring accelerator

HUNTSVILLE – Global venture firm and startup accelerator gener8tor, in partnership with the MidCity Accelerator Foundation, kicked off two gBETA Huntsville cohorts in April.

The gBETA accelerator focuses on area early-stage companies with programming taking place in Huntsville.

Gener8tor gBETA is a free, seven-week, no-equity accelerator program that provides startup founders with coaching and access to mentors, customers, corporate partners and investors.

The programs are designed to set a path for startups to participate in equity-based accelerator programs and investment opportunities.

The 10 selected companies were chose after a competitive applicant pool and interview process.

“The MidCity Accelerator Foundation, MidCity District and RCP Companies are thrilled to launch our two spring 2023 gBETA cohorts with gener8tor’s leadership,” said Lindsey Pattillo Keane, executive director, MidCity District Association. “We’ve had the opportunity to meet many of these entrepreneurs, and North Alabama is in for a treat.

“MCAF is passionate about entrepreneurs staying, growing and flourishing in our region. I invite the community to attend the gener8tor events and volunteer to be a mentor. Knowing local entrepreneurs is key to knowing your community.”

The MidCity Accelerator Foundation and gener8tor have been working to grow the north  Alabama startup ecosystem. Since the partnership began in 2021, the programs have assisted more than 35 local entrepreneurs.

Since 2022, the MidCity Accelerator programs have led to the immediate creation of 20 high-tech jobs in Alabama.

According to the Moretti multiplier, these jobs will lead to approximately 100 indirect jobs in the area.

“We’re thrilled to partner with MidCity Accelerator Foundation to bring these programs to life and bolster the startup community in Huntsville,” said Lauren Usher, gener8tor partner overseeing gBETA. “We’ve seen the incredible economic impact of the gBETA program in other parts of the country, and we’re excited to bring that same impact to Alabama.”

At the end of the gBETA program, startup founders will pitch their companies to investors, community partners and the public at an evening showcase on Monday, June 26 in Huntsville.
