Good vibrations: Music scene events build crescendo to South Star

HUNTSVILLE — The Rocket City’s vibrant music scene is creating a buzz around the country and residents will be able to see – and hear – what’s on tap at the quarterly Music Meetup.

The event is 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stephens Music Hall at Campus 805.

The meetup provides an opportunity for musicians and stakeholders to network and collaborate. Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella and members of Huntsville’s Music Board will be on hand to discuss the program’s initiatives and events. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Mandrella will preview Huntsville Music Month, observed each September. This year’s celebration starts with the VBC 5K Music Run on Aug. 31. That’s followed by the return of Jazz in the Park-Huntsville on Sept. 1-2 and Launchpad Music Festival on Sept. 6-7 at Big Spring Park.

Throughout September, the Music Office will host or co-host a variety of events, culminating in the inaugural South Star Music Festival at John Hunt Park on Sept. 28-29.

“Huntsville’s music scene is buzzing and it’s exciting to see artists from other states moving to Huntsville to experience what we have to offer,” Mandrella said. “It’s also great to see other music cities taking notice and following our lead on initiatives like our Music Ambassador Program, which tells us we’re moving in the right direction.”
