Goodwyn Mills Cawood, a local architecture and engineering firm, has expanded its transportation engineering discipline with the addition of Brian Blanks, PE, PLS, as a project manager.

The firm said Blanks brings more than 30 years of experience in the design, analysis, and management of roadway systems, strengthening GMC’s growing transportation capabilities in Huntsville and across the region.

Blanks has spent his career working on projects focused on public safety and practical, day-to-day transportation needs. His experience includes developing site plans and roadway access plans in Morgan County, establishing project milestone schedules, and mentoring younger engineers.

His project portfolio spans bridges, public buildings, renovations, sports fields, and other infrastructure improvements.

“Brian’s addition to our Huntsville office is an exciting and valuable asset to the team,” said Alabama Surface Transportation Leader Charles Wright. “He brings the depth of experience we need while keeping clients at the center of his work. His approach reflects GMC’s commitment to building communities and strengthening the relationships that make them thrive.”

An Alabama native, Blanks is originally from Albertville and is a graduate of The University of Alabama. He has worked in Morgan County since 1997, giving him extensive knowledge of the region and its transportation needs.

GMC said that local insight, paired with technical expertise, will benefit communities throughout North Alabama.

Goodwyn Mills Cawood is one of the largest architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, providing services that range from transportation and civil engineering to architecture, environmental services, surveying, and disaster recovery.

The firm works on projects that include schools, parks, hospitals, commercial developments, and infrastructure aimed at improving public safety and quality of life.
