Gotcha Covered of Huntsville provides window of opportunity to homeless

HUNTSVILLE — Huntsville business duo, Greg and Bethany Smith, have opened Gotcha Covered of Huntsville, a window treatment franchise.

And, the couple are taking this business opportunity to help provide opportunities for the homeless.

“We have been going through a spiritual growth period, and I felt God was speaking to me about what I need to be doing in the business space – not so much for me or my family, but I wanted to be doing something for Him,” Greg said. “Obviously, that shifted my perspective. I felt driven to start new businesses that would create new jobs and opportunities for people who have been overlooked by society.

“One of those groups of people is the homeless, so we specifically target folks in that demographic of our ministry.

“I felt He had given me a blueprint for a start-up nonprofit that focused primarily on providing opportunities for homeless people to get back on their feet and go one to prosper.”

In that process, Smith set a rule that any for-profit business he started up had to donate back, without exception, to the nonprofit in support of those homeless programs.

Greg, owner of Smith & Associates, is a Navy veteran with a project and construction management background. Bethany is a former nurse and caregiver.

While searching for business opportunities, Greg discovered Gotcha Covered with the help of his entrepreneurial coach.

“Gotcha Covered was perfect for our long-term goals,” he said. “Plus, the leadership team and other franchisees help create a very positive atmosphere. Everyone has been super helpful, professional and responsive. There is always a helping hand available when you need it. That’s part of the culture.”

Plus, Gotcha Covered of Huntsville gives 10% of gross sales to Smith’s nonprofit.

Gotcha Covered brings its window coverings showroom to clients in their home, office or place of business. The company has racks upon racks of drapery and curtain samples, fabrics, shades, shutters, and blinds, including motorized and smart home window coverings.

“We start with a phone consultation to determine what the client is looking for, and we load up the samples that meet their criteria and take them to the customer’s home so they can see the samples in person and in the room where they will be installed,” said Greg. “Unlike going to a local home improvement store, everything from Gotcha Covered is custom factory-made according to professional specifications.”

Paul Linenberg, president of Gotcha Covered franchising, said quality defines the Gotcha Covered brand.

“We pride ourselves in being able to deliver the best customer experience,” Linenberg said. “Residents of Huntsville are getting window treatments that can transform the ambiance of a home and Greg and Bethany are a great asset to the community and will provide community with high-quality window treatment solutions.”
