Gov. Ivey appoints Mac McCutcheon Madison County Commission chairman

MONTGOMERY – Mac McCutcheon, former Alabama Speaker of the House is taking on a new leadership role.

Gov. Kay Ivey was tasked with appointing a new chairman following the election of Dale Strong to the U.S. House of Representatives. Her choice today is a familiar face for Madison County and North Alabama.

McCutcheon served a total of 16 years in the Alabama legislature – 6 of those as speaker. He’s a retired law enforcement officer with the Huntsville Police Department, a U.S. Army veteran and former associate pastor.

According to the governor’s office, McCutcheon will assume the role of chairman effective immediately.
