Less than a month after landing a nearly $133 million Army contract for its Outlaw unmanned aircraft systems, Madison-based Griffon Aerospace has secured another award tied to the program.

Griffon Aerospace Inc. was awarded a $17,515,469 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for Outlaw communications subcomponents and training, according to a Department of War contract announcement.

Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal is the contracting activity.

The latest contract has an estimated completion date of Feb. 28, 2027. Work locations and funding will be determined as individual orders are placed.

One bid was solicited online and one was received.

The award follows a $132,978,776 Army contract Griffon received Aug. 10 to provide Outlaw systems, support equipment and field service representatives.

Together, the two awards put more than $150 million in contract ceilings behind work related to Griffon’s Outlaw program, although as IDIQ contracts, the maximum values do not necessarily represent funding obligated at the time of award.

The Outlaw family is one of Griffon’s signature unmanned aircraft platforms. The systems can serve as aerial targets, allowing military units to train and evaluate weapons against aircraft representing potential battlefield threats.

Griffon’s Outlaw G2 is a larger evolution of its MQM-170A Outlaw G1 and is designed as a low-cost platform capable of carrying a variety of mission payloads.

Founded in 1995 by CEO Larry French, Griffon Aerospace began in civil aviation before expanding into defense work. The company designs, manufactures and operates unmanned aircraft and provides engineering, advanced composites, fabrication, machining and systems integration capabilities.

The Madison company secured its first prime contract supporting an Army air defense training program in 2003 and has since produced thousands of unmanned aircraft for the U.S. military, allied nations and research organizations.
