Huntsville Hospital Health System and Marshall Medical Centers have opened a new 32,000-square-foot operations center in Arab that could eventually bring up to 250 jobs to Marshall County.
The facility, at 8830 U.S. 231, currently has about 60 employees. Workers handle billing, preregistration, scheduling, customer service, accounting and other administrative duties for HH Health.
While the work is not done directly with patients, it supports the hospitals, clinics and physician offices that make up the health system.
“Patient care happens in our hospitals, physician offices and clinics, but it is supported every day by dedicated teams working behind the scenes,” said Clinton Carter, chief financial officer for HH Health.
The Arab location is the second centralized business operations center for HH Health. The system’s Madison facility had reached capacity, creating the need for additional space.
“Our teams are supporting more patients, hospitals and communities than ever before, and we needed additional space to accomplish that important work,” said David Ralston, executive director of Revenue Cycle for HH Health.
Ralston said the Arab center gives the organization more flexibility as it continues to grow.
The new facility also brings those jobs to Marshall County rather than having the work handled outside the region.
“This is about more than opening an office. It is an investment in Marshall County,” said Chris Rush, president of Marshall Medical Centers. “Bringing these jobs to Arab creates new opportunities for families in our region while supporting the hospitals and teams that care for our friends and neighbors.”
HH Health is hiring for positions at the Arab center, with additional jobs expected to be added throughout the year.
HH Health operates 15 hospitals across North Alabama and southern Tennessee and employs more than 22,000 people. Marshall Medical Centers, part of HH Health, operates hospitals in Boaz and Guntersville and outpatient services in Albertville.
