Huntsville Hospital seeks North Alabama input on future healthcare needs

Huntsville Hospital Health System is asking North Alabama residents to help shape the future of healthcare in their communities through a survey open now through Nov. 13.

The Community Health Needs Assessment will gather feedback on healthcare challenges, access to medical services and other factors affecting the health of residents across the 15 counties served by the nonprofit health system.

The results will help Huntsville Hospital identify priorities for future healthcare programs, services and investments.

“We believe the best way to understand what a community needs is to listen to the people who call it home,” said Jeff Samz, CEO of Huntsville Hospital Health System. “Most of our hospitals are not required to conduct this type of assessment, but we believe it’s the right thing to do. We have a responsibility to understand the needs of our communities and make thoughtful decisions about how we invest our resources. We want our patients and neighbors to have a voice in that process.”

The assessment will examine access to medical care, barriers to staying healthy, the needs of underserved populations and available community resources.

Residents are encouraged to participate whether or not they have recently received care at a Huntsville Hospital facility.

The survey, administered by ECG Consultants, takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.

The health system also plans to hold town hall meetings across North Alabama in spring 2027 to gather additional feedback on local healthcare needs.

Huntsville Hospital Health System operates hospitals and related facilities across North Alabama and southern Tennessee, serving more than 1.5 million people and employing more than 22,000.

The survey is available through Nov. 13 at cvent.me/lZoL2r.
