HUNTSVILLE — It’s not only the temperatures that have been hot around here lately.
Huntsville City FC is on fire, itself.
It took more than 90 minutes on a warm Sunday night, but Huntsville City FC used the stoppage time for a 2-1 comeback win over New York City FC II at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium.
With the win, the Boys in Blue (11-4-6, 4 SOW) extended their unbeaten streak to six and are unbeaten in 9 of their last 10 matches.
And, Huntsville City moved into second place in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference – their highest position in team history.
New York City FC II struck in the first 15 minutes of the match but, Alioune Ka answered in first-half extra time with his first goal for Huntsville City FC to bring the match level at intermission.
The score remained tied until stoppage time, when Isaiah Jones netted the winner in the 94th minute with an assist from Pep Casas.
HCFC will look to continue to keep the momentum going Saturday at sixth-place Chattanooga FC (9-6-7, 4 SOW).
