HUNTSVILLE — Touting itself as a “backyard bistro,” Hound & Harvest is opening its doors Saturday with updated interior dining space, covered patio, and a newly developed backyard with dogs and families in mind.

Hound & Harvest is a new brand for Huntsville favorites Garrett Hardee, owner of plant-based food truck, Hippea Camper, and Kennan Tipton, owner of Huntsville’s downtown coffee trail favorite, Northside Coffee.

“We’re hoping to bring the community a unique and family-friendly environment,” Garrett said of the business in the former Mason Dixon locale.

“We’ve always wanted to make it more convenient to get quick and healthy food in Huntsville,” said Tipton.

Their backyard bistro expects to showcase Hippea Camper favorites such as the Hot Tamale Supreme Bowl, and newcomers The BABS breakfast sandwich, Graze Bowl, and a variety of diet-friendly tacos.

“It was important for us to cultivate a space that would be all-inclusive so that anyone would feel comfortable at Hound & Harvest, including your kids and dogs,” said Hardee. “Hippea Camper will use this space for its food truck kitchen operations and collaborate with Hound & Harvest to provide many plant-based options on the menu.”

Tipton said the new location is perfect for the business.

“Going into my fifth year of business with Hippea Camper, I wanted to find a more central location for our operations, as well as be able to provide our food in a sit-down setting,” he said. “We worked for two years to combine Northside Coffee and Hippea Camper until we found the perfect location with plenty of potential and an amazing outdoor space that would group the customer experience.”

Hound & Harvest will open in phases while growing its own produce and herbs.

“There will be a phased-opening approach that will begin with cafe-style breakfast and lunch, eventually expanding into dinner and an airstream bar in our spacious backyard,” Hardee said. “We’re also planning to utilize the space for an on-site garden to offer fresh produce and herbs for our food and drinks.”
