HPD makes arrest in connection to Saturday’s deadly shooting

HUNTSVILLE – The Huntsville Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to last Saturday’s deadly shooting in north Huntsville.
Jordan Latrell Smith, 21, of Huntsville was charged with reckless murder. He was booked into the Madison County Jail around 2 p.m. today.
The shooting occurred at the Chevron Food Mart, 3310 Meridian St., about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Damien Obrien Manning, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The Major Crimes Unit is investigating and more arrests are expected.
