HudsonAlpha biotech summer internships available to college students

HUNTSVILLE – Graduates and undergraduates throughout Alabama are invited to apply for internships at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology for its biotech program.

The initiative is the nonprofit HudsonAlpha Biotrain Internship Program. The summer program offers students the opportunity to connect classwork with real‐world job experience and gain skills and knowledge that will prepare them for careers in biotechnology and related fields.

The nine-week internship begins May 28 and runs through July. The program accepts 25 to 30 interns each summer and are paid a stipend to work from 20-30 hours per week.

Interns will also participate in weekly professional development sessions. At the conclusion of the internship, students are required to create and present posters that explain the work they accomplished during the internship.

According to HudsonAlpha, each internship is crafted with specific skill sets in mind and is open to participants based on their educational level and area of concentration. Originally launched in Huntsville in 2009, the BioTrain Internship program is one of the longest-running programs at HudsonAlpha.

The positions available provide experiences that range from in‐depth laboratory research to biotechnology marketing, communications, and business strategy.

To apply, visit https://www.hudsonalpha.org/biotrain/. Applications are open until Feb. 15. Visit hudsonalpha.org to learn more.
