HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville City FC is back on friendly turf Sunday with its four-match home unbeaten streak.
Huntsville hosts Atlanta United 2 with a 6 p.m. kickoff at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. Tickets for the match can be purchased here. It’s a rematch from July when HCFC beat Atlanta 4-2 in Marietta, Ga.
The game will also be the first home match for Head Coach Jack Collison since being named MLS NEXT Pro’s Coach of the Month for August.
“From where we were seven games into the season to where we are now is a testament to the collective from the staff and players,” he said. “These guys made a decision to give absolutely everything they have every single day, and the byproduct has been some incredible performances, which has led to some positive results. I am so proud of the players in particular for trusting in the process and of course the staff who are the unsung heroes behind the scenes. It has been a collective effort.
“It’s a real honor to be named coach of the month, especially in such a competitive league full of talented coaches and so many fantastic teams. We now look forward to finishing the season strong and giving everything, we can toward the final push.”
The match will also see Collison take on his former club. Collison was head coach of Atlanta United 2 from 2021-22. Before that, he was the coach of the club’s U-17 Academy team, leading the group to a 12-0-5 record with a plus-34 goal differential from 2019-21.
HCFC is 9-10-6-4 for 37 points and sixth place in the Eastern Division of MLS NEXT Pro. Atlanta United 2 is carrying a 8-12-5-1 record for 30 points into the match.
Following the conclusion of Sunday’s match, fans are invited to a Party on the Pitch featuring a DJ, light show, glow sticks and more.
