Huntsville Hospital posted more job openings than any other employer in Alabama in February, as statewide hiring demand continued to climb, according to new data from the Alabama Department of Workforce.

The department’s Labor Market Information Division reported 104,060 online job ads in February 2026, an increase of 10.5 percent from the previous month and 11.7 percent higher than the same time last year.

Huntsville Hospital led all employers with 1,170 job postings, followed by UAB Health System with 867. Other major employers included The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Baptist Health, DCH Health System and USA Health.

Healthcare roles dominated demand, with registered nurses topping the list of most advertised positions. Customer service representatives, retail salespersons, general and operations managers, and fast food and counter workers also ranked among the most in-demand occupations, combining for 9,636 postings.

The report found the median advertised wage in February was $57,605 annually. There were approximately 0.54 candidates for every available job, indicating more openings than job seekers across the state.

Alabama Workforce Secretary Greg Reed said the data reflects continued economic momentum and growing demand across key industries.

“February’s online job ads highlight continued strength and momentum in Alabama’s economy, with industries predicting growth across critical sectors like healthcare, retail, and customer service,” Reed said. “The increase in job postings, along with rising advertised wages, signals strong opportunities for job seekers while reinforcing the need to further develop our workforce pipeline.”

Reed added that career centers across the state are available to help connect job seekers with available positions and guide them through the application process.

The latest figures underscore North Alabama’s continued role as a major employment hub, with Huntsville-based healthcare systems driving a significant share of the state’s hiring activity.
