Huntsville man arrested in Pulaski Pike slaying

HUNTSVILLE – A Huntsville man has been charged with murder in connection to a fatal shooting Oct. 12.

Huntsville Police said Jerriance Dural Freeman, 38, of Huntsville fled the shooting on the 4000 block of Pulaski Pike.

There they found Jamie Darquez Cawthorne, 32, of Huntsville, dead from gunshot wounds.

In less than 24 hours, HPD’s Major Crimes Unit identified Freeman as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Police believe the shooting was the result of an altercation between Freeman and Cawthorne.

U.S. Marshals found Freeman in Colbert County and arrested him. Police said he will be extradited back to Huntsville and booked into the Madison County Jail.
