March is Women’s History Month and Parks & Recreation is celebrating with the third annual HerPower Walk on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at John Hunt Park.

The family-friendly event will take place on the paved walking trail at the John Hunt Park Cross Country Course, 2151 Airport Rd. SW.

The free 5K walk is open to women, girls and the men who support them. It will feature vendors, food trucks with concessions for purchase, uplifting music and, most importantly, encouragement and empowerment for participants.

“HerPower Walk is about connection,” said Superintendent of Recreation for Community Services Dorianne Johnson. “It’s an opportunity to come together, encourage one another and celebrate the strength that exists throughout our community. When we show up for each other, we build something meaningful that lasts well beyond the walk.”

“We are excited to host this event for the third year,” said Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett. “The event is a great opportunity for residents to explore John Hunt Park and find community connection.”
