Huntsville Police arrest hit-and-run driver in morning incident

HUNTSVILLE – A Huntsville man was arrested today after a hit-and-run incident left a member of the Grissom High cross-country team with life-threatening injuries.
The suspect, Jarod Monroe Severance, 21, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident, according to Huntsville police.
Police said the incident happened about 6:45 a.m. today near the intersection of Weatherly Road and Cannstatt Drive.
When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old male with life-threatening injuries. He was immediately transported by HEMSI to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. Neither his name nor condition was immediately available.
According to HPD, the suspect vehicle fled the scene, but witnesses provided a detailed description that led to officers locating the vehicle and driver.
