Huntsville police say final person arrested in Meridian Street shooting

HUNTSVILLE – A teen-ager has been arrested in last month’s deadly shooting on Meridian Street, according to the Huntsville Police Department.

Seven Nelson, 19, is charged with reckless murder in the shooting at a convenience store Oct. 12 that left two men dead.

The shooting happened around 9:45 p.m. and, when officers responded to the Chevron gas station at 3310 Meridian Street, they found 22-year-old Damien Obrien Manning with a gunshot wound and Davante Centrell Dixon, 24, critically wounded.

Manning was pronounced dead at the scene; Dixon died Nov. 10 from his wounds.

Police said Nelson is the final person to be arrested in the incident. Five others have been arrested and charged with reckless murder: Dion Earl Ernest Roos-VorHauer, 19; Jordan C Lakes, 20; Tyler O’Neal Andrade, 21; Jordan Latrell Smith, 21; and Kennedy Thomas Turner, 20, all of Huntsville.

The HPD Major Crimes Unit said it will focus on working with the Madison County District Attorney’s Office to ensure the prosecution of all six people charged in connection to the shooting.
