Huntsville puts out the cyber welcome mat for 16th annual national summit

HUNTSVILLE — Putting the “Rocket City” moniker aside, Huntsville is also Cyber City.

And, to that end, Huntsville is opening its doors next month for the 16th annual National Cyber Summit.

“There is no better place to address cybersecurity than in Huntsville, Alabama,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “This city is at the pinnacle of technology, and the National Cyber Summit brings together the best and brightest from our government, industry, and academic technical community.”

National Cyber Summit is the nation’s most innovative cyber security-technology event, offering unique educational, collaborative and workforce development opportunities for industry visionaries and rising leaders. The summit offers more value than similar cyber conferences with diverse focus-areas, premier speakers, and unmatched accessibility.

The summit’s core focus is on three things: education, collaboration and innovation.

“NCS connects senior cyber-tech leaders to those just starting in cyber-tech fields,” said National Cyber Summit Director Judy Darwin. “This is critical to building a stronger more resilient cyber workforce in government, industry and academia to ensure we protect our national interest from all enemies foreign and domestic.”

Huntsville is recognized as one of the nation’s largest technological hubs and the summit attracts government and commercial participants.

While it is the home to Department of Defense organizations and civilian departments and agencies including DHS, NIST, NASA, TVA, NSA and DOE, Huntsville also has other industries represented, including healthcare, automotive and energy, academia, genetic research and high technology.

The summit is Sept. 23-25 at the Von Braun Center and hosted by the North Alabama Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association and Cyber Huntsville.
