Huntsville-based Invariant Corporation has been accepted into a U.S. Special Operations Command consortium designed to move emerging technologies from development to the field more quickly.
The company’s admission to the Special Operations Forces Rapid Acquisition Consortium for Emerging Requirements, known as SOF RACER, gives Invariant a new avenue to compete for future prototype and technology work supporting USSOCOM.
No contract or funding was awarded as part of Invariant’s acceptance into the consortium. The membership allows the company to respond to opportunities issued through SOF RACER using Other Transaction agreements, a federal acquisition mechanism intended to accelerate the development and delivery of emerging capabilities.
For Invariant, that could include opportunities closely aligned with the Huntsville company’s existing work in weapons systems, sensors, software, systems integration and rapid prototyping.
SOF RACER was established to connect Special Operations Forces with companies capable of quickly developing and demonstrating technology in response to emerging operational requirements. The consortium can support projects ranging from early prototypes through advanced demonstrations and, in some cases, successful projects can move toward follow-on production.
That admission places the company among businesses eligible to pursue work through a procurement channel specifically structured for speed and flexibility.
Headquartered in Huntsville, Invariant is a 100% employee-owned defense technology company specializing in advanced weapons systems, sensors, software and rapid development for military customers. Last month, the defense company was named one of the fastest-growing private companies in the country after recording 265% revenue growth over the past three years according to the company.
The company’s addition to SOF RACER expands its ability to compete for future Special Operations work as USSOCOM looks to move new capabilities from operational requirements into the hands of warfighters more quickly.
