In turn of events, and dirt, Building & Earth Sciences breaking ground for its own Huntsville office

HUNTSVILLE – It’s not unusual for Huntsville’s Building & Earth Sciences to be breaking ground for buildings.

They’ve been a part of projects across the area, including Redstone Gateway.

But the company is going in a different direction, of sorts.

Next month, it’s breaking ground for its own facility.

“We have been a part of several marquee projects, and most of the commercial development outside (Redstone Arsenal) Gate 9 since 2008,” said cofounder and President Jeff Cowen. “Building our own facility is a first for us and is a testament to both the past success and future prospects for the Huntsville market.”

A local provider of geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, construction materials testing, and special inspections, Building & Earth Sciences will host a groundbreaking on March 5 at 226 Bailes St. The ceremony is 2-4 p.m. and is open to the public and friends of Building & Earth.

This new office expansion marks a significant milestone for the Huntsville branch, which opened in 2006 and expanded from four to more than 30 employees.

Srdj Boskovic began his career there and is now a principal of the firm.

“We are thrilled to grow even deeper roots in  Huntsville and working hard to keep up with its growth,” said Boskovic, who has overseen rampant growth in the Huntsville office since his start with the company. He is regional vice president for Building & Earth operations in North Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

The new 8,000-square-foot facility will feature six private offices, an open-plan shared workspace, two large conference rooms, a reception area, and a significantly expanded Corps of Engineers-validated laboratory testing facility. The office will serve its clients and the community in North Alabama.

“We are proud to support the economic expansion of the city and work with our area’s top leaders,” said Branch Manager Kevin Edmondson.

Huntsville’s rise as a top-ranked city – recently named among the top 10 places to live by U.S. News & World Report and now the largest city in Alabama – has helped fuel this expansion. The city’s commitment to growth initiatives that power innovative business and government projects aligns with Building & Earth’s own trajectory.

“We are very pleased with the success we have had in the Huntsville market under the leadership of Srdj, and now Kevin,” said Cowen.
