Jackson County man charged in murder of neighbor

HOLLYTREE — Authorities said a Jackson County man was arrested after he allegedly shot and killed his neighbor Monday.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel Lambert, 57, of Hollytree, has been arrested and charged with murder for the shooting death of Douglas Cooner, 42, also of Hollytree. Lambert is being held in the Jackson County Detention Center.

Deputies said they responded Monday afternoon to a report of a shooting on a private drive off County Road 12. There they found Cooner dead.

A dispute between Lambert and Cooner led to the shooting, deputies said.
