Tinder date turns into armed robbery in Limestone County

(Limestone County Sheriff's Office, 256 Today)

Swipe right, get robbed at gunpoint. That’s the version of events Limestone County deputies say played out July 5 on Stewart Road in Tanner.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim connected with a woman on Tinder and agreed to meet up at a set location — standard modern dating stuff. Except when the victim showed up, deputies say a man and woman were waiting, and the “date” turned into an armed robbery on the spot.

Give credit where it’s due, though: Limestone County didn’t waste any time. The Criminal Investigation Division processed the scene, ran down witnesses and used what they found to track the suspects to a spot not far away, all in the same day.

From there, investigators secured a search warrant for a nearby residence and recovered the goods: property allegedly stolen in the robbery, plus the firearm authorities say was used to pull it off.

James Christopher Toney and Erika Rose Parr are now behind bars at the Limestone County Jail, facing first-degree robbery charges. Parr’s also facing a marijuana possession charge for good measure. Both are waiting on an initial court appearance, where bond will be set.

Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin praised the turnaround, calling it a quick, coordinated response from his deputies and investigators.

Kudos to Limestone County police, this date could’ve ended a lot worse.
