Off The Record: The latest rumors and rumblings in Alabama
James Lingerholm?
A resurfaced Huntsville arrest is plaguing a first-time candidate for Alabama House. OTR has verified the authenticity of the booking, and some neighbors in the community are speaking up about James Linderholm’s past as a gym teacher in the Huntsville City Schools system. Expect to hear more on this soon. According to sources who have approached OTR, some who have allegedly had past dealings with Linderholm, including parents of kids, are speaking out. The timeline of Linderholm’s arrest seems to overlap with his employment with the school system, although it is currently unclear if, or how, the charge involved any minors.
The Sheriff sings
Peyton Manning has two Super Bowl rings, five MVP awards and a Hall of Fame bust. OTR is told none of that required singing.
Riley Green’s new duet with Manning, “Alabama Vs. Tennessee,” dropped Monday, and the OTR review is that the chorus is the title repeated until everyone agrees to stop. Manning mostly talk-sings his parts, which even the friendlier reviews noticed.
Green, an Auburn fan, plays the Alabama side. Manning plays Tennessee, and the loser buys the beer. OTR is told the Tide nor the Vols had anything to do with this.
Huntsville has entered the chat
Remember how L3Harris landed a $6 billion-plus deal to dramatically ramp up THAAD propulsion production, and somewhere out there a shiny new manufacturing facility is waiting to be born. Where? L3Harris still isn’t saying, telling 256 Today at the time of the announcement only that it will have “more information to share in the future.” Fair enough. But considering the company’s Missile Solutions business is headquartered in Huntsville, it already builds THAAD solid rocket boost motors here and it has spent years expanding its Rocket City manufacturing footprint, OTR would like to respectfully submit North Alabama for consideration. Camden, Arkansas, we’re sure you’re lovely. But around here, $6 billion missile deals and undisclosed facilities are basically our love language.
