Juneteenth: Huntsville municipal offices closed, visitor center open

HUNTSVILLE – City of Huntsville municipal offices and the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau will close Wednesday for the federal Juneteenth National Independence Day.

Meanwhile, the Huntsville/Madison County Visitor Center on Church Streer and the Visitor Information kiosk inside Huntsville International Airport will be open regular hours (9 a.m.–5 p.m.) Wednesday.

Municipal closures include Animal Services, Public Transit (Orbit and Access) and Municipal Court. City offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

  • Garbage Collection: Residential collection will be delayed this week. Residents should leave carts at the curb until they are collected.
  • Parks & Recreation: All facilities will close except splash pads, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Bicentennial Park Splash Pad is currently closed.
  • Public Safety: Essential police and fire personnel will remain on duty throughout the holiday.
