Land Trust of North Alabama, Red Sage snare Web excellence honors

DECATUR – In a contest widely regarded for validating the best of the Internet worldwide, Land Trust of North Alabama along with Red Sage Communications were named Honorees at the 28th annual Webby Awards.

Presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), the Webby Awards celebrate excellence and outstanding website achievements around the globe.

“Our new website offers visitors an engaging way to learn more about our mission and locate all the information they need to experience natural North Alabama,” said Melanie Manson, marketing director of the Land Trust of North Alabama. “By connecting as many people as possible with all of its beauty and benefits, we can inspire its protection and encourage more people to become a part of this community-led conservation effort.”

The Land Trust of North Alabama spearheads regional and community collaborations that plan, preserve, and provide stewardship for green spaces in North Alabama. Since its founding in 1987, the organization’s efforts have resulted in the preservation of more than 10,000 acres in six counties. Its emphasis on online accessibility contributes to its mission of connecting people to nature.

“Honorees like the Land Trust of North Alabama are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said Claire Graves, president of the Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the 13,000 projects we reviewed this year.”

This was Red Sage’s first recognition in the Webby Awards. According to a news release, the site set a standard for digital experience, with intuitive UI/UX, gorgeous multimedia-driven design, and industry-leading programming techniques.

“The Webby Awards are globally competitive. To be recognized as an Honoree is just a huge, huge deal in our industry,” Michelle Stark, Red Sage’s vice president of Sales & Marketing, said. “We are so proud of our team and what we’ve delivered for The Land Trust. It’s an incredible organization doing incredible work to protect North Alabama’s natural spaces.”

According to Manson, “Partnering with Red Sage has been a truly rewarding experience. Together we’ve crafted a revitalized website that educates visitors about our mission, while helping them discover and explore the wonders of nature in North Alabama.”
