MOULTON – Bobby Burch, longtime Lawrence County Commissioner, has announced he will run for mayor of Moulton in the upcoming municipal election.
A lifelong resident of the city, Burch brings more than a decade of experience in effective, transparent leadership, and a bold vision for Moulton’s future, according to a news release.
“As someone who has spent my life working to make our community stronger, I believe the time is right to bring that same commitment, energy, and results-driven leadership to City Hall,” said Burch. “I’m running for mayor to fix what’s broken, invest in the people who call Moulton home, and create a place where families and businesses can thrive.”
First elected to the Lawrence County Commission in 2010, Burch has guided the county through major challenges, including an EF5 tornado and the closure of International Paper, while maintaining balanced budgets, clean audits, and earning an “A” credit rating from Standard & Poor’s.
If elected mayor, Burch said he will resign from the County Commission to fully dedicate himself to the city he calls home.
“I will step away from my role on the county commission because Moulton deserves a full-time mayor, one who is hands-on, responsive, and ready to go to work on day one,” he said. “Public service isn’t about holding a title. It’s about showing up, listening, and solving problems, and that’s exactly what I intend to do.”
Burch’s campaign platform focuses on three core priorities.
- Fixing What’s Broken – Modernize infrastructure and utilities through smart planning and strategic partnerships;
- Putting Community First – Ensure fair access to city facilities and investing in the people who live here; and
- Creating a Place People Want to Be – Enhance events, revitalizing from the downtown square out to the city limits, and recruiting small businesses that reflect Moulton’s values.
In addition to his public service, Burch is the founder of The Burch Agency, an independent insurance firm, and serves as president of the Rotary Club of Lawrence County. He is a lifelong member of Moulton Church of Christ, where he worships with his wife of 33 years, Tonya. They have two adult children.
“Moulton is more than my home, it’s my heart,” said Burch. “This campaign is about putting people first, leading with purpose, and working together to build a stronger future. I’m ready to get to work.”
