MADISON — The city of Madison will begin its annual street sweeping next week, officials announced.
The program is aimed at improving the quality of stormwater runoff by removing contaminants from the street before they can enter the storm system.
Sweepers will hit the streets next Monday and clean all curbs and gutters. Weather permitting, the program will be completed in approximately six weeks, officials said.
Residents are asked to refrain from parking on or placing anything in the streets between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Reminders:
- Yard debris, trash receptacles, and recycling carts should be placed directly behind the curb for your weekly pick-up
- Do not throw debris in front of the sweeping crews
- Do not blow leaves into the street
- Large quantities of leaves must be bagged for weekly trash pickup
- Shrubs, tree branches, and large piles of leaves can damage the sweeper
- Please bring trash receptacles in after collection to alleviate the obstruction in the street
This is a one-time annual sweep, and the street sweeper will drive around any blockage within the street and will not return to resweep, officials said.
