The Madison County Commission has approved the hiring of Kindell C. Anderson as the county’s next administrator, selecting the longtime local government executive to oversee day-to-day county operations beginning Aug. 10.

Anderson currently serves as county administrator for Montgomery County, where he has provided executive oversight of county operations while leading investments in infrastructure, public facilities and long-term economic development.

The Madison County Commission approved Anderson’s appointment during its meeting last week.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Kindell Anderson as our new County Administrator,” Commission Chairman Rex Vaughn said. “We look forward to helping him get acquainted with Madison County and the exceptional people who work every day to make it a great place to live.”

A native of LaGrange, Georgia, Anderson brings more than 19 years of county and municipal leadership experience, including government operations, financial management and strategic planning. Before becoming Montgomery County administrator, he served as senior transportation planner and co-division head for the City of Montgomery’s Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Anderson also has ties to North Alabama. He earned both a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from Alabama A&M University. His wife is a Huntsville native.

In Madison County, Anderson will work with county leaders and community stakeholders on priorities including public safety, transportation, infrastructure improvements and economic development as the county continues to experience rapid growth.

In a statement, Anderson said he is honored to have been selected for the position and praised Madison County’s reputation for responsible governance and strategic growth.

He said his initial focus will be on listening and learning while working with the County Commission, employees, community partners and residents to strengthen county services, support responsible growth, invest in county employees and ensure Madison County remains a leading place to live, work and raise a family.

“My family and I are excited to become part of the Madison County community, and I look forward to serving its citizens with integrity, transparency, and a steadfast commitment to excellence,” Anderson said.
