MADISON — It’s one of the fastest growing cities in the state and Madison is growing its school system.

The Madison Board of Education approved a $49.2 million contract Wednesday with Pearce Construction of Huntsville for a new elementary school.

The school will be built on Madison City Schools-owned property in Limestone County, west of the new roundabout on Hardiman Road.
Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols said no name has been selected and the school is scheduled to open for the 2026-2027 school year.
The school, the city’s eighth elementary school, will have a capacity of about 1,000 students.
Records show about 27% of the nearly 13,000 students who attend Madison City Schools live in Limestone County portions of Madison.
