Madison Street Festival brings community downtown for 42nd year

MADISON — If it’s the first Saturday in October, then that means it’s time for the Madison Street Festival.

In its 42nd year, Saturday’s free event fills Historic Downtown Madison with arts and crafts, music, food and activities for all ages.

And it all starts at 9 a.m. with the kickoff parade.

There will be entertainment, an area to showcase local business, arts and crafts, a children’s and teen area, exhibits, food, sponsor row, Midtown Madison Area and so much more. The festival is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Madison City Schools representatives will be on hand to help Stuff the Bus with supplies to support students, teachers, and programs. The bus will be on the corner of Front and Sullivan streets.

  • Individual student needs include hygiene items, deodorant, body wipes, bar soap, and laundry pods.
  • Classroom supplies for teachers are facial tissues, single rolls of paper towels, wipes, and disinfectant spray.

Free shuttle service will be provided from Crosspointe Church and Madison City Stadium to the festival. You can also park at Madison City Stadium and walk in. Both locations will have a handicap bus running.

  • Crosspointe Church, 78 Hughes Road. This shuttle stop will drop off at Maple Street right beside the Children’s Area. This shuttle will be re-routed to option the Wise Street  drop-off location during the parade from 8:45-10 a.m. as that route will be closed for the parade. You will need to go to the shuttle stop on Maple Street to get back to Crosspointe.
  • Madison City Stadium, 211 Celtic Drive. Take the short shuttle to be dropped off at the Festival Entrance on Wise Street or walk to the festival from the stadium parking lot. Walkers can exit the bottom of the stadium parking lot to Garner Street and enter the festival on Wise Street. The short walk is a healthy and great option for families with strollers.
