Marking first Alabama location, The Chop House breaks ground at Town Madison

MADISON — A new addition is coming to Town Madison’s growing lineup of dining destinations.

The Chop House broke ground Wednesday on its first Alabama location, marking the restaurant’s 11th site across the Southeast.

The classic American steakhouse, known for its relaxed atmosphere and guest-centered service, was founded in 1992 by restaurateur Mike Connor and has since expanded to 10 locations across three states. The Madison restaurant will join the company’s sister concept, Connors Steak and Seafood, already a popular dining spot at Bridge Street Town Centre.

Joey Ceci, president of Breland Companies, the developer behind Town Madison, said The Chop House was a fantastic addition to the development.

“When we started Town Madison several years ago, this is exactly the type of partner and business we wanted to attract, first in the market, first in Alabama,” he said. “We could not be more excited to break ground today.”

Town Madison continues to grow as one of the area’s premier mixed-use developments, home to Toyota Field, retail stores, restaurants and residential options.

The Chop House Area Director Garry May said the restaurant will bring the same high standards as its sister concept.

“Expect the same type of service, the same quality of food, just a little bit different environment, a little more of a traditional style steakhouse,” May said.

May, who began his career with the company as a server in the 1990s, said he looks forward to becoming part of the Madison community.

“I love our company, I love what we do and how we do it,” he said. “I cannot wait to get to know the members of this community and earn some loyal guests.”

General Manager Justin Meyer said the restaurant is targeting a second quarter 2026 opening and plans to hire between 100 and 120 employees.

Madison Mayor-elect Ranae Bartlett welcomed the restaurant and praised its decision to invest in the community.

“You have decided to break ground in the best city in the best county in Alabama,” Bartlett said. “You are going to love operating here. And can I just suggest, as you are making your signature dishes, consider a mayor’s ribeye. That is my favorite cut.”

Madison City Chamber President Michelle Epling said The Chop House will quickly become a community favorite.

“We are excited to make The Chop House of Madison a tradition for years to come,” Epling said. “Because a great quality of life includes eating delicious food.”

When it opens, the Madison location will feature hand-cut steaks and chops, fresh seafood prepared in-house and signature cocktails, all served in the welcoming, high-quality environment that has made The Chop House a regional favorite.
