Madison Mayor Ranae Bartlett has officially proclaimed March 30 as Women-Owned Business Day in the city of Madison, recognizing the impact of female entrepreneurs on the local economy.

The proclamation was presented during the March 9 city council meeting to representatives of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber’s Women’s Business Council.

“It is my honor as mayor to declare March 30th as Women Owned Business Day,” Bartlett said. “March is also recognized as Women’s History Month, and the City of Madison values entrepreneurial businesses and seeks to celebrate growth and business ownership among women in the community.”

The recognition highlights the role women-owned businesses play in driving economic development and fostering innovation across Madison.

Amber James, chair of the Women’s Business Council, thanked city leaders for their continued support.

“As a council, we do a lot of work within the chamber and within our community to promote women and small businesses,” James said. “We absolutely appreciate the support that we get from both the city of Madison and the City of Huntsville and Madison County.”

The Women’s Business Council, part of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber, is a network of business owners focused on supporting business growth and leadership development for women in the region.

City leaders say the designation is intended to celebrate and encourage continued growth among women-owned businesses in Madison.
