BIRMINGHAM – Veteran construction industry leader Virnetta Woodbury has published a workbook to help high school students discover their passions and build career paths from them.

Woodbury, a project manager with Brasfield & Gorrie, has launched “My Life, My Career, My Choice,” a practical workbook designed to help students set meaningful goals and explore career paths with confidence.

Released during back-to-school season when career anxiety typically peaks, the workbook addresses the challenges many students face when trying to figure out their next steps after high school.

According to a news release, the resource provides reflective prompts and practical advice to help students identify strengths, explore career options and develop actionable plans.

“Students today are pulled in so many directions when it comes to deciding their future,” Woodbury said. “It can be overwhelming to sort through all the opinions and expectations. This workbook gives students space to explore what excites them, recognize their strengths and build a career plan they believe in and can pursue.”

Years of mentoring students and emerging professionals and nearly 20 years in the commercial construction industry have given Woodbury a clear understanding of how hard it can be to choose a career path. That experience, including her role as a project manager, shaped her approach to creating this resource, the release said.

The 40-page interactive guide targets high school students, parents, teachers, career coaches and guidance counselors, the release said. It’s designed for flexibility, working equally well in student advisement meetings, classroom settings, one-on-one counseling sessions and at home for personal planning.

Go Build Alabama is sponsoring the release to advance Woodbury’s mission of helping the next generation pursue fulfilling career paths, including opportunities in commercial construction. Go Build Alabama will distribute the workbook to career coaches across the state to use as a planning tool.
