META’s Huntsville Data Center awards Girls Inc. of Huntsville $15k grant

Girls Inc. of Huntsville has received a Community Action Grant from META’s Huntsville Data Center for $15,000 to help support STEM education for Girl’s Inc.’s summer camp program.

This grant, and other donations like it, help change lives and empower young women in the community.

“We are humbled by the work that you do to make our community a better place,” the company said in a statement. “From all of us here at META Huntsville Alabama Data Center, Congratulations!”

The grant also comes during Girls Inc. of Huntsville’s 50th anniversary Fuel Her Fire Campaign. The campaign is raising funds to provide the Girls Inc. experience to more girls in the community.

Earlier this year, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle proclaimed 2022 as the “Year of the Girl’’ in honor of Girls Inc. of Huntsville and its 50th anniversary.

“For 50-years Girls Inc. of Huntsville has been growing leaders in our community,” said Mayor Battle. “That’s something that has made Huntsville a better place. Every year should be the ‘year of the girl.’”

Girls Inc. of Huntsville executive director Stephanie Malone said they are always trying to add more stimulation to their after-school curriculum.

“STEM education along with exposure to trade skills is fundamental to everything we do here,” Malone said. “We cannot be more thankful that META and its Huntsville Data Center have chosen us for this opportunity.”

Girls, Inc. is focused on STEM, economic and financial literacy, leadership, and healthy living and unlike other after-school programs, Girls Inc. provides research-based programming, a pro-girl environment, and long-lasting mentoring relationships.
