HUNTSVILLE — If you work on Redstone Arsenal, prepare for a logjam of vehicles at the gates Monday.
Much of the arsenal’s workforce of some 46,000 people has returned to on-site work and the Missile Defense Agency has ordered its military and civilian personnel back to its headquarters on the post Monday.
With their return, there will be a visible uptick in traffic, Redstone officials said.
“We have hired and trained as many guards as we can in preparation,” said a spokeswoman for the Garrison Command. “We just ask for patience as everyone adjusts to the current paradigm.
“Additionally, we want to remind those returning to in-person work that firearms are not allowed on Redstone Arsenal. Please remove hand guns from your vehicle before entering federal property.”
Workers are advised that peak traffic occurs from 6-8:30 a.m. and Gates 1 and 9 will have facial recognition lanes. If the cameras fail or if they’re in a lane that doesn’t have facial recognition, occupants of the vehicles should be ready to present their CAC/ID cards.
