More than football highlights the weekend around Louis Crews Classic at Alabama A&M

NORMAL — The weekend surrounding the 15th annual Louis Crews Classic is more than a football game at Alabama A&M University.

Activities leading up to the first home game of the season include a coach’s breakfast, a home volleyball contest and other events.

The Louis Crews Classic has become a staple for Bulldog fans as the annual game begins the home football slate and on Sept. 6, Alabama A&M will host Alcorn State.

The game concludes a weekend-long celebration of the late AAMU head coach, who roamed the sidelines from 1959-1976 and amassed a remarkable 110-61-3 record during his time on The Hill.

In 2010, Alabama A&M created the annual Louis Crews Classic to honor the contributions made by Louis Crews and his family to the institution. In the 14 previous games held, the Bulldogs are 10-4 in the annual classic.

The celebration of AAMU athletics and legendary coach Crews will feature former players to commemorate the event.
