Morgan County Rural Development Park to redefine high school education experience

HARTSELLE — Calhoun Community College and the Morgan County School System are launching a program to “redefine the high school education experience.”

The courses in medical and machining will be offered to juniors and seniors from all Morgan County high schools.

And the tuition for these programs is 100% free.

The Career Tech Academy called Rural Development Park is launching in August. RDP is a partnership with Calhoun Community College to offer Morgan County students the opportunity to earn their high school diploma and a license or credential to take them directly to the workforce after graduation.

Students will dual enroll through Calhoun Community College to earn certifications in the program. The areas of study are:

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Fire Fighting I
  • Medical Lab Assistant
  • Nursing Support Technician (NST)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Physical Therapist Aide
  • Surgical Tech – Sterile Processor
  • LPN (Coming Fall 2026)
  • Dental Assistant (Coming Fall 2026)
  • Aerospace/Precision Machine
  • Machine Tool Technology

Rural Development Park will be near Hartselle at the former Sparkman Elementary building.
