Municipal offices closing for Independence Day

HUNTSVILLE – City of Huntsville municipal offices will close Thursday for Independence Day as are most civic operations region-wide.

In the Rocket City, this includes Animal Services, Public Transit and Municipal Court. Offices will reopen Friday.

Meanwhile, the Huntsville/Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau will close Thursday and Friday and reopen Monday. However, the CVB Visitor Center at 500 Church Street and the Visitor Information kiosk inside Huntsville International Airport will be open regular hours through the holiday. 

Huntsville services holiday schedule:

  • Garbage Collection: Residential collection will be delayed the week of July 1-5. Residents should leave carts at the curb until they are collected.
  • Parks & Recreation: All facilities will close except splash pads, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Public Safety: Essential police and fire personnel will remain on duty throughout the holiday.
