U.S. Rep. Dale Strong has picked up the endorsement of two decorated Navy SEAL veterans, including a fellow member of Congress, in his bid for reelection to Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District.

U.S. Rep. Morgan Luttrell, a Texas Republican who served with SEAL Team 7, and his identical twin brother, Marcus Luttrell, who served with SEAL Teams 5 and 10, announced their support for Strong.

“Congressman Dale Strong is a fighter for Alabama, our veterans and the US war fighter. We’re honored to call him our friend,” the brothers said in a joint statement.

The endorsement highlights Strong’s work with Morgan Luttrell on veterans’ issues, including improving living conditions for enlisted service members, expanding access to health care and efforts to reduce veteran suicides.

Strong’s campaign pointed to their work securing $38.9 million for a planned national veterans cemetery in North Alabama, which would be the first new national veterans cemetery built in more than a decade.

The campaign also credited their efforts with helping secure a new veterans clinic to improve access to health care in North Alabama. Strong and Luttrell are continuing to pursue funding for a veterans medical center.

“I am proud to have the endorsement of these American heroes,” Strong said. “Morgan, Marcus and countless other veterans have put their lives on the line for our country and deserve the best medical care we can provide. I will fight to help them get it.”

The Luttrell endorsement follows the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s announcement in September that it was backing Strong for another term.

The Chamber, which also endorsed Strong in 2022 and 2024, cited his record on taxes, regulation and policies supporting business growth.

Strong, a Huntsville Republican first elected to Congress in 2022, serves on the House Appropriations Committee and chairs the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Management and Technology.

He is seeking a second term representing Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District in Tuesday’s midterm election.
