New kayak launch to make a splash at Lake Guntersville State Park

GUNTERSVILLE – Let’s do launch!

Today, kayakers at Lake Guntersville State Park will be able to hit the water from a new location.

A ceremonial ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony is planned for this morning to celebrate the addition of a new kayak launch in the Lake Guntersville State Park Campground.

The project was funded through a waterway enhancement grant from the Alabama Scenic River Trail to the Friends of Lake Guntersville State Park.

Local community, business and government leaders will join State Parks staffers and officials from ASRT and the Friends group at Friday’s ceremony.

State Senator Wes Kitchens; Indya Guthrie, president of the Friends of Lake Guntersville State Park; Alabama State Parks Northeast District Superintendent Heath Puckett; Martha Grace Mize, director of growth and development for the Alabama Scenic River Trail; and other local civic and business leaders.
