HUNTSVILLE — The Panoply Arts Festival, Huntsville’s oldest, most successful and most beloved event of the year opens this evening with its traditional Military Salute Night.

Admission to the festival in Big Spring Park is free to all active-duty military personnel, Reserves and dependents.

With lilting, familiar and inspiring tunes, this patriotic evening under the stars honors the men and women in uniform and recognizes the service of active duty and reserve service members throughout Madison County communities.

“Military Salute Night is a tradition for us at Panoply, where we can celebrate and show our gratitude for the active duty servicemen and women and those serving in our Armed Forces, reserves, and their dependents,” said Allison Dillon-Jauken, executive director of Arts Huntsville, who puts the event on every year. “Thanks to their selfless service and sacrifice, we can  celebrate wonderful events like Panoply and experience the arts each day across our community.”

Salute Night is 5- 9 p.m. with a fireworks show sponsored by Delta Research to close.

The festivities feature performances on Panoply’s two stages, headlined by The Wanda Band. The other performers are Them Dogs, Alex Banks, 3 Savile Row, Common Man, and Courtney Val.
