HUNTSVILLE – The Huntsville Hospital Health System and its downtown main facility in the Rocket City are hosting two events this week in its ongoing effort to provide care options for the Tennessee Valley area.
Just outside of Gate 9 near Redstone Arsenal, the system will celebrate the upcoming opening of the new Gateway Medical Clinic at 11 a.m. Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting. HH Health CEO Jeff Samz, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and Huntsville/Madison County Chamber President & CEO Chip Cherry will speak to the area’s growth and HH Health’s decision to continue investing in primary care services for the Huntsville community.
Set to open to patients May 1, Gateway Medical Clinic will offer comprehensive, convenient primary care backed by experienced physicians, including Dr. Rachel Jones, a former Army major.
“Being given the opportunity to lead the premier clinic in the HH Physician Network is an honor and a privilege that I am very proud of,” Jones, a Huntsville native, said in a statement. “I will use all of my experiences – military and civilian – to help our team at Gateway strive to provide the absolute best in quality patient care for everyone in our wonderful community here in North Alabama.”
The clinic, open to people ages 18 and older, will operate from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and be closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.
Services will include primary care, labs, ultrasounds, complete physicals for sports participation or employment, preventive medicine screenings, collaborative care of patients with chronic medical illnesses, and immunizations for those traveling to other countries.
Gateway Medical Clinic will serve the fast-growing area of Redstone Arsenal, home to the Army, Marshall Space Flight Center, FBI and numerous other agencies.
PaYS program
Meanwhile, HH will hold a ceremony Wednesday at 11 a.m. to announce the signing of a partnership with the Army as part of the Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) program.
Designed to help soldiers prepare for a career after the Army by connecting them with potential employers, the PaYS program will guarantee soldiers an interview with Huntsville Hospital, which could lead to employment.
The PaYS program is part of a long-term Army effort to help soldiers forge professional relationships with businesses and encourage business owners to look to the Army as a plentiful and reliable recruiting source.
